DOOR wins Webby Award for Depot app
The Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen app has been awarded a Webby Award by the jury of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. The app was developed by DOOR in close collaboration with the Boijmans team. With the app, visitors to the depot always have the collection in their pocket. DOOR won the jury prize in the category Apps and Software: Art, Culture and Events 2022. With this, the app has been distinguished as the best app for promoting and improving the experience of art, events and cultural institutions.
The Depot of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen is the first publicly accessible depot in the world, a Gesamtkunstwerk and a new Rotterdam icon. DOOR designed an app for the optimal Depot experience. In the app you will find the most important information about tens of thousands of works of art. Many artworks have an interactive story, with facts, trivia, photos, videos, audio and challenging quizzes. The interactive stories help you to look more actively and discover more. The app saves works of art that inspire you in your own collection. This way, visitors always have their own, inspiring Boijmans collection at hand. The app was also nominated for the Dutch Interactive Awards and European Design Awards. The winners will be announced shortly.
